Dufferin County: Same Roots, New Visions

For Dufferin County

Brand film, 60s social cutdown, stills

The Ask

Dufferin County is known for its agricultural roots. Deep, rich, multi-generational roots. But it's also experiencing serious growth in advanced manufacturing and technology. They came to us with a clear challenge: create a film that honours their history while making a confident case for their high-tech future. The piece needed to feel authentic to long-time residents while speaking directly to new investors and businesses. Essentially, they needed to connect the cornfields to the cleanrooms.

Our Approach

The tagline from the brief—'same roots, new visions'—became our creative anchor. We weren't telling two different stories; we were telling one story of evolution. Our plan was to create visual and narrative parallels between the old and the new. We’d pair a shot of a farmer inspecting a field with a technician inspecting a circuit board. We’d interview a third-generation farmer and a first-generation tech founder, weaving their perspectives together. No actors, no fluff. Just the real people driving Dufferin's growth, shot in a way that highlighted the shared values of hard work, precision, and looking ahead.

The Shoot

This project had us waking up for sunrises over sprawling fields and wrapping in the fluorescent hum of advanced manufacturing floors. We spent a lot of time in boots, both rubber and steel-toed. Capturing the scale of modern agriculture required drones, while telling the human story meant getting up close with our interviews. We met families who have farmed the same land since it was deeded and entrepreneurs building global companies from the ground up, sometimes just a few concessions apart. The contrast was the story, and our job was to frame it honestly.

The Result

The final film is a visual handshake between heritage and innovation. It feels both grounded and aspirational. The County now has a central piece of communication that works equally well at an international trade show or a local council meeting. The film gives them a clear, emotionally resonant way to say: we're proud of where we come from, and we know exactly where we're going.
