The Brief
Recruiting in healthcare is a challenge, especially for roles that require a lot of heart. Jarlette Health Services needed a way to cut through the standard job postings and show potential hires what it’s really like to be part of their team. They didn’t want a slick corporate ad; they wanted something that felt genuine and showed the unique culture they've built over 50 years. The goal was to attract people who were looking for more than a paycheque—they were looking for a place to belong.
Our Approach
You can’t fake authenticity. We knew this couldn't involve actors or scripts. The only way to capture the spirit of Jarlette was to feature their actual staff, in their actual work environments. Our plan was to visit several of their long-term care and retirement homes across Ontario and simply listen. We set up interviews with a wide range of team members—from nurses and personal support workers to chefs and leadership—and let them tell their own stories. No leading questions, just honest conversation.
On Location
Filming in active healthcare facilities requires a specific touch. You need to be efficient, respectful, and practically invisible. We operated with a small, nimble crew, ensuring we didn't disrupt the daily routines of residents or the critical work of the staff. We spent our time capturing candid interactions and the small, meaningful moments that define a workday at Jarlette. The team was incredibly welcoming, which made our job easy. It’s not hard to make people look good when they genuinely love what they do.
The Result
We delivered a central recruitment film that feels less like a hiring tool and more like a short documentary. It’s an honest look at the challenges and rewards of a career with Jarlette, told by the people who live it every day. The film became the cornerstone of their recruitment campaigns, supplemented by shorter cutdowns for social media. The feedback was that it attracted candidates who were a better cultural fit, because they arrived with a clear understanding of the company's values and the people they'd be working alongside.
