The Challenge
Timmins and District Hospital faced a common but critical problem: recruiting physicians to a northern community. In a Canada-wide competition for medical talent, a simple job posting doesn't cut it. They needed a tool that could answer the questions potential recruits were really asking: What is it actually like to live in Timmins? Can I build a career and a life here? They asked us to show, not just tell, why a doctor should choose Timmins.
Our Approach
We skipped the scripts and the stock footage. The only way to tell this story honestly was to talk to the people already living it. Our plan was to embed in the community and interview a handful of local physicians—from recent arrivals to established veterans. We didn't give them talking points. We just set up a camera and asked about their work at the hospital, their families, their weekends, and why they’ve stayed. Our crew captured footage of them at work, but also at the lake, on the trails, and having dinner with their families. The idea was to create a portrait of a life, not just a job.
The Result
We delivered a primary 4-minute recruitment film that serves as the cornerstone of the hospital’s career page. This main piece weaves together multiple physician stories into a single narrative about the unique appeal of the city and its medical community. From there, we created a package of shorter, thematic videos for social media—one focused on the collaborative work environment, another on the accessible outdoor lifestyle. We also delivered a complete library of professional photographs from our time on location. The hospital now has a cohesive and authentic set of video and photo assets to power their recruitment campaigns across web, social, and print for the foreseeable future.
